Equine Coaching
Some breakthroughs can’t be reached through words alone - horses can get you there.
Horses Reveal What Words Cannot
This is co-facilitated work that takes place in a beautiful, privately held countryside setting just outside Hitchin in Hertfordshire. No riding. No equestrian experience. No prior coaching experience needed. Just you, the horses and the space to discover something true.
You don’t need…
Any experience with horses.
To be brave, outdoorsy or physically fit.
To have tried other helping modalities first.
To know what you are looking for.
To be able to explain what is going on.
You need…
A way in that bypasses the thinking mind - something that works at a deeper level and faster. Something that works faster, more clearly and in a way that surprises you.
The horse doesn't hear your story, It feels your truth
Horses are profoundly intuitive animals connected by their need to keep each other safe within the herd. They respond to what they feel and not what they hear or see. Therefore they mirror your inner world without agenda or judgment. They simply reflect back what is true for you.
Four ways to experience this work
The Experience
Imagine leaving a session knowing something new and profound about yourself.
Not because someone told you but because you saw it and felt it. You had it reflected back to you in a way that was so clear that there was no room for doubt. This is what equine coaching offers. Not entrenched theory or specific frameworks but an experience that touches your core.

Equine coaching is a form of experiential coaching that uses horses as active partners in the process of personal and professional development. Unlike traditional talk based processes it allows for a deeper connection with nature creating opportunity for growth and development that is sometimes more difficult to reach in conversation alone. Equine coaching draws on principles from psychology, leadership development, and somatic awareness. It is used by individuals seeking personal growth, teams working on communication and trust, and leaders who want to develop greater self-awareness and authentic presence.
You are guided by two experts: one a trained equine facilitated coach and one a specialist in horsemanship - this creates a deeply safe and containing space spiritually, mentally and physically.

Horses respond to congruence, when we are out of alignment they can mirror this back to us through their behaviours individually and in the herd dynamics. They are prey animals who have survived millions of years by responding to the nuanced emotional state of those around them. They reflect an inner state that sometimes we are not even aware of in our everyday worlds.
-
Horses mirror our inner thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour. They are the true guides in this work and we feedback the information that they give us. Equine coaching provides a space to see patterns clearly and have them explored safely with two skilled experts beside you. The feedback from the horses is immediate giving us the opportunity to get to the heart of problems far more quickly than talking therapy and our own individual journeying.

Horses respond to authentic, grounded presence. You cannot lead a horse through status, authority or trying to be clever. You can only lead through clarity of intention, calm confidence, and genuine connection. In a coaching session, these qualities either emerge naturally or they do not and either way, you learn something valuable about yourself. We promote the principle of empathic or gentle leadership and use this as our starting point with all of our leadership work. We know it works better when building relationships with horses and therefore invite you to introduce it in your own world.
By working with the horses you are able to see how your emotional state impacts those around you whether that is positively or negatively.
Leaders and team members report profound changes following this work.

A session typically takes place outdoors in a calm setting with one or a herd of horses depending on the day and needs of our clients. We always have at least 2 facilitators in any session to hold the space for the horses and for you. We are a team of a trained, experienced equine coach and a skilled specialist in horsemanship. Safety in all areas is a number one priority.
You do not need to have any horse experience and the sessions are entirely ground based. No riding is involved.
A Session typically begins with a brief conversation about what has brought you to coaching and what you are hoping to explore or shift. We will then introduce you to the horses and invite you into a series of exercises which might include simply observing the horses, approaching them, or moving with them in a shared space. Each exercise is deliberately open-ended, allowing whatever is true for you in that moment to surface naturally.
As you engage with the horses, your coach observes closely and invites you to reflect on what you are noticing in the horse's behaviour, in your own body, and in the thoughts and feelings that arise. These reflections become the raw material of the coaching conversation, grounded in direct experience rather than abstraction.
No two sessions look exactly the same, because no two people bring the same questions. What remains constant is the honesty of the horse, the skill of the coaches, and the quality of attention brought to what unfolds
