What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation and healing through the gentle laying on of hands. The word "Reiki" comes from two Japanese words: "rei" (universal) and "ki" (life energy). Reiki works on the principle that a practitioner can channel healing energy through their hands to support your body's natural healing processes and restore physical and emotional well-being.
How does Reiki work?
During a Reiki session, you'll lie fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table while I gently place my hands on or just above specific areas of your body. Using sacred Reiki symbols and intention, I channel healing energy directly through my hands to you. The energy flows naturally to where it's needed most in your body. Many clients report feeling warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or other pleasant sensations during their treatment.
What can I expect during a Reiki session?
You'll relax fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table in a peaceful, private space. The session typically lasts 45-60 minutes. I'll begin by briefly discussing your needs and intentions, then you'll lie down and close your eyes. During the treatment, I'll gently place my hands on or slightly above various positions on your body, including your head, torso, and limbs. You may feel sensations like warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation. Many people enter a meditative state or fall asleep, which is completely normal and beneficial.

How do I prepare for a Reiki session?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
Avoid heavy meals 2-3 hours before the session
Arrive a few minutes early to settle in
Turn off your mobile phone
Remove shoes, jewellery, and glasses (if comfortable doing so)
Set an intention for your healing if you wish

What will I experience during the session?
Reiki experiences vary from person to person, but common sensations include:

Seeing colours or light behind closed eyes

Falling asleep or entering a meditative state

How will I feel after a Reiki session?

How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people experience significant shifts after one session, while others benefit from a series of treatments. For chronic conditions, emotional healing, or life transitions, I often recommend 3-6 sessions spaced 1-2 weeks apart. We can discuss a treatment plan that aligns with your specific situation and goals during your initial consultation.

What training and experience do you have?
I am attuned in Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 with the renowned Reiki Academy London and am currently undertaking my Reiki Master Accreditation. I have practiced for 10 years and am also a trained coach and accredited by the ACCPH to senior level, which means I can also supervise other coaches.
What if I'm uncomfortable during the session?
Your comfort is my priority. Please let me know immediately if you feel uncomfortable in any way. You can ask me to adjust hand positions, reduce pressure, or take a break at any time.
What happens if I fall asleep during the session?
Falling asleep during Reiki is completely normal and doesn't diminish the effectiveness of the healing. In fact, the deeply relaxed state often allows the energy to work more profoundly. Many clients report having particularly restful experiences during their sessions. The healing energy continues to flow regardless of your consciousness level.
How do I know the session is working?
You might notice changes during the session, immediately after, or in the days following. Some people feel dramatic shifts, while others experience subtle improvements in their overall well-being. Trust your own experience and be patient with the healing process. Sometimes the most profound changes happen gradually over time.
